Z-Series Medium-Size DC Motors; Center Heights 355–710 mm The Z-series medium-size DC motors are a newly developed product line launched by our company following the successful development of the Z4-series small-size DC motors. Performance characteristics, overall dimensions including mounting dimensions, and technical specifications fully comply with JB/T 9577–1999 and IEC international standards. Mechanical dimensions and tolerances conform to ISO international standards. These motors find broad application across various industrial sectors, including metallurgical rolling mills, metal-cutting machine tools, papermaking, dyeing & weaving, printing, cement production, plastic extrusion machinery, and more. Advanced design features include a multi-corner laminated stator frame structure, maximizing space utilization and delivering compact size, light weight, and superior performance. The stator yoke, poles, and armature core are all fabricated from high-grade cold-rolled silicon steel laminations, ensuring excellent magnetic permeability. Both stator and rotor windings undergo solvent-free vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI), endowing the windings with outstanding moisture resistance, mechanical strength, insulation performance, and thermal conductivity. Rolling bearings are employed, featuring a non-stop lubrication system. All models feature Class H insulation. These motors operate effectively with both traditional DC generator-set supplies and static rectifier power supplies. Their low moment of inertia ensures excellent dynamic response, enabling them to withstand high load variation rates—making them especially suitable for control systems requiring smooth speed regulation, high efficiency, automatic speed stabilization, and rapid response. Mounting configurations conform to GB/T 997 and IEC 34-7 (“Designations for Types of Construction and Mounting of Electrical Machines”). 2. Protection ratings comply with GB/T 4942.1 and IEC 34-5 (“Degrees of Protection Provided by the General Purpose Enclosures for Rotating Electrical Machines”), offering IP23 and IP44 options. 3. Cooling methods conform to GB/T 1993 and IEC 34-6 (“Methods of Cooling Electrical Machines”) and include the following four standard options. Operating Conditions for Z-Series Medium-Size DC Motors 1. Rated output is specified for operation at altitudes ≤1000 m and ambient air temperatures ≤40°C. 2. Both armature and field circuits are compatible with thyristor-based static rectifier supplies as well as conventional DC generator-set supplies. 3. Operating environments must not contain acidic, alkaline, or other gases corrosive to insulation materials. 4. Motors may be installed in harsh environments, provided appropriate cooling methods and protection ratings are selected to ensure reliable operation. 5. For marine applications, tropical/humid regions, or environments with salt fog or high humidity, special agreements are required. 6. When supplied by static rectifier power, the rectifier must provide ≥6 pulses. Under rated base speed, rated voltage, and rated load current, peak ripple factor must not exceed 10%. Basic duty type is continuous (S1). Other duty types require special agreement. 2. Standard rated voltages: 220 V, 330 V, 440 V, 550 V, 660 V, and 750 V. Other voltages are available upon order specification. 3. Basic excitation method is separately excited, with standard field voltage of 220 V. Alternative field voltages are available upon request. Forced field excitation is permitted, with maximum forced field voltage limited to 500 V. During forced excitation, field current may briefly exceed rated value but must return to and remain within rated limits once stabilized. 4. Short-time overload capability:  • Occasional short-time overload: Rarely occurring or used only in emergencies; motor can sustain loads exceeding continuous rating for up to one minute. Circuit-breaker instantaneous trip settings should be coordinated accordingly.  • Frequent short-time overload: Repeated overloads forming part of normal duty cycle.  • Following short-time overload operation, the motor must operate under reduced load to ensure that the RMS load over the full duty cycle does not exceed its continuous rating.  • Category B motors must sustain:   – Continuous operation at 115% rated power within rated armature voltage and speed range. Elevated temperature rise is expected; other characteristics may deviate from rated-condition specifications.   – Two hours of operation at 125% rated power immediately following continuous-rated-load operation, with temperature rise remaining within specified limits; other characteristics may deviate from rated-condition specifications.  • Lower overload multiples permit longer permissible overload durations. For Category B motors, occasional overload up to 2.5× rated current (at base speed) is allowed for ≤15 seconds—subject to prior agreement with the manufacturer. 5. Speed regulation: Not specified as standard; special requirements must be agreed upon at time of order. 6. Current slew rate: Permissible di/dt up to 200× rated current per second across all speeds and loads. 7.
