Why do larger-capacity SIMO Motors commonly use rectangular (flat) wire instead of round wire?
Answer: As a leading domestic motor manufacturer, SIMO Motor has a history of over 60 years since its establishment in 1955, holding hundreds of invention patents and possessing advanced design technologies and manufacturing processes. Regarding the choice between round wire and flat wire, we determine it based on the specific motor requirements. First, round wire is more convenient for processing, manufacturing, and winding coils; however, once wound into coils, it leaves numerous voids in the cross-section, resulting in poor space utilization. This issue is not particularly prominent for low-capacity motors and transformers; moreover, small-section flat wire is difficult to process, manufacture, and wind into coils—hence, low-capacity motors and transformers universally adopt round wire. In contrast, for high-capacity motors and transformers, poor space utilization significantly increases the overall machine volume, causing inconvenience in use and raising manufacturing costs; meanwhile, large-section flat wire poses no difficulty in processing, manufacturing, or coil winding—thus, high-capacity motors and transformers universally adopt flat wire.
