Transmission ratio between magneto shaft and engine crankshaft
The transmission ratio between the magneto shaft and the engine crankshaft is related to the number of engine cylinders Z and the number of sparks generated per magneto revolution. In a four-stroke engine, one cylinder fires every two revolutions of the crankshaft; therefore, Z/2 sparks are required per crankshaft revolution.
