Classification of motor bearings
The bearing used in motors is a component that supports the shaft, guiding its rotation and bearing the load from rotating parts mounted on the shaft. The term “bearing” is broadly defined. Four common bearing types are used in motors: rolling bearings, plain bearings, spherical plain bearings, and oil-impregnated bearings. The most commonly used motor bearing is the rolling bearing—i.e., a bearing incorporating rolling elements. Plain bearings refer generally to bearings without rolling elements—i.e., bearings operating via sliding motion.
