Z4 Series DC Motors – Z4-225-31, 132 kW DC Motor: Product Overview

Center heights from 100 to 355 mm conform to the People’s Republic of China Machinery Industry Standard JB/T 6316–92, “Technical Specifications for Z4 Series DC Motors”, defining the standard small-size Z4 series; center heights from 400 to 450 mm represent an extended Z4 series beyond the standard range; and center heights from 500 to 710 mm are newly developed medium-size DC motors by our factory. This motor series is widely applicable across various industrial sectors, including metallurgical rolling mills, metal-cutting machine tools, papermaking, dyeing and weaving, printing, cement production, and plastic extrusion machinery. Compared with the Z2 and Z3 series, the Z4 series offers significant advantages: it can operate not only from DC generator sets but also—more commonly—from static rectifier power supplies. Moreover, it features low rotational inertia, excellent dynamic performance, and high tolerance to load variation rates, making it especially suitable for control systems requiring smooth speed regulation, high efficiency, automatic speed stabilization, and rapid response—meeting today’s international advanced standards. The motor duty rating is continuous duty (S1). At altitudes up to 1000 m and ambient air temperatures up to 40 °C, the motor operates at rated conditions as specified in the technical data table. This series employs Class F insulation. Power ratings for the Z4 series range from 1.5 kW to 840 kW; rated speeds include nine values: 3000, 1500, 1000, 750, 600, 500, 400, 300, and 200 r/min; excitation is separately excited, with a rated excitation voltage of 180 V. Beyond the above standard ratings, customized variants—including alternative power outputs, armature voltages, speeds, and excitation voltages—can be provided based on specific application requirements and customer needs. Motors with a rated voltage of 160 V generally require an external reactor when supplied by a single-phase bridge rectifier; the required inductance value of the externally connected reactor is indicated on the motor nameplate. Motors with a rated voltage of 440 V do not require an external reactor.
