Introduction to SIMO Explosion-Proof Motor Models: YBX3 High-Voltage Explosion-Proof Motor

  Introduction to Explosion-Proof High-Voltage Motors

The high-voltage explosion-proof motors manufactured by Xi’an Taifu SIMO Motor are designed for use in flammable and explosive industrial facilities, operating without generating electric sparks. Because high-voltage explosion-proof motors operate at higher voltages, they incorporate all functionalities unavailable in low-cost motors. Below, Nanyang Explosion-Proof Motor introduces a high-voltage explosion-proof motor model.

  High-Voltage Explosion-Proof Motor

High-voltage motors are developed because motor power is proportional to the product of voltage and current; thus, when the power of a low-voltage motor increases to a certain level (e.g., 300 kW / 380 V), current becomes limited by the conductor’s allowable current-carrying capacity—making further current increase impractical or prohibitively costly. To achieve high-power output, voltage must be increased. High-voltage explosion-proof motors are primarily used in coal mines, oil & gas, petrochemical, and chemical industries. They are also widely applied in textile, metallurgical (i.e., extraction of metals or metal compounds from ores), urban gas supply, transportation, grain & oil processing, papermaking, and pharmaceutical sectors. As primary power equipment, high-voltage explosion-proof motors typically drive transmission machinery such as pumps, fans, compressors, and vibrating screens. With advances in science, technology, and production, locations prone to explosions are increasingly common.

For example, after traditional oil-pressing processes were replaced by advanced foreign oil solvent-extraction technology in edible oil production, hexane—a transparent, colorless, highly flammable and explosive liquid—was introduced as a chemical reagent. Consequently, oil-extraction workshops became hazardous explosive environments requiring explosion-proof electrical products such as high-voltage explosion-proof motors. A high-voltage motor refers to a motor with a rated voltage exceeding 1000 V; commonly used voltage ratings include 6000 V and 10000 V. Due to differences in overseas power grids, voltage classes such as 3300 V and 6600 V are also employed. Advantages of high-voltage motors include high power output and strong impact resistance; disadvantages include large inertia and difficulty in starting and braking. For instance, China’s rapid expressway development in recent years has led to a surge in fuel filling stations—creating new market opportunities for high-voltage explosion-proof motors.

  Common High-Voltage Explosion-Proof Motor Models

The YBX3 high-voltage explosion-proof motor is a high-performance explosion-proof high-voltage motor, compliant with GB3836.1–2010 “Explosive Atmospheres – Part 1: Equipment – General Requirements” and GB3836.2–2010 “Explosive Atmospheres – Part 2: Equipment Protection by Flameproof Enclosure ‘d’”. Its energy efficiency meets Grade 1 efficiency per GB30254–2013.
