The importance of dust removal in routine motor maintenance
SIMO Motor RepairInformation: Many users of electric motors tend to overlook the dust removal process for motors. In fact, dust removal is extremely important for motors. Since dust accumulation significantly reduces motor service life and affects motor operation, the following dust removal methods can help motor users better remove dust from their motors.
(1) After the motor stops working—even when power is off—the backpack fan continues to run; therefore, the backpack fan and the motor damper must be opened to allow some carbon powder to flow outward.
(2) Stop the backpack fan and cut off power, then use a hair dryer to remove dust inside the motor.
(3) Gently wipe along the grooves of the commutator to clean carbon powder adhering to the commutator surface or lodged in its grooves, and use a clean, dry vacuum cleaner to suction carbon powder from inside the motor.
(4) Wipe internal motor components such as insulating supports with a soft, lint-free white cloth (or suede) to remove residual carbon powder.
